Children's skateboards are specifically designed for smaller children between 3 and 7 or 8 years old. They are smaller (but not much smaller) than standard boards, being 7 inches wide by 28 inches long as opposed to 8 inches wide by 31 inches long.
The slightly smaller size means the board is lighter and therefore easier to manoeuvre. But be warned: you do not want to get a REALLY small board from a toy shop, as these are much less stable for a child to stand on!
